Abidemi Olowonira

Abidemi Olowonira is a Nigerian visual artist known for his handcrafted leather assemblages and wall reliefs. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Texas Southern University in 2008 and his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Houston Baptist University in 2015. Abidemi’s work has been featured in galleries worldwide, and he collaborated with Kyle Bunting to create the Element collection, which won the Elle Decor International Design Award for Best Floorcovering in 2019. Abidemi believes in the art of storytelling and engages people imaginatively through his work. His leather assemblages and wall reliefs explore themes of equality, sexuality, race, and the environment, furthering the dialogue that is essential to the continuing growth and survival of humanity.
