Alex de Fluvià is a multidisciplinary artist whose work blends cultural influences from his travels with his deep Mediterranean roots. He studied Art History at the University of Barcelona and photography at the School of Visual Arts, New York. His art is defined by intricate calligraphic patterns, bold gestural mark-making, and collage techniques incorporating patterned papers, fabrics, and everyday elements.
Influenced by a year studying calligraphy in Cairo, de Fluvià embraces the rhythm of arabesque patterns, layering them like mashrabiya screens. His Japanese calligraphy studies in Tokyo further shaped his practice, evident in his sweeping Shodo-inspired strokes.
The artist currently lives and works in Barcelona, Spain.
