Gautam Patole chose to shift from being a photojournalist to an artist as he was very disappointed with journalism. Patole, a post-graduate in commerce, did not even train to be a photographer. His stint as a photographer taught him to gauge the basic anatomy of a person. And that is what helps him to draw a perfectly balanced human body. After he ceased being a photojournalist, he decided to branch out in the world of creative art. It was ceramic painting on ceramic tiles that first attracted him. He started making paintings on ceramic tiles, but with a difference. When he approached art galleries to provide his work he realized that new comers get cold shoulders from the reputed galleries.Witless, frustrated and also disappointed, Patole wanted to change the rules of the game and while helping upcoming artists and guiding them, he created his own paintings in charcoal, acrylic, ceramic and glass. His work is in the collection of Dilip Piramal, Harinder Singh of Paramount Pictures, Maneck Daver of Spenta Multimedia, film star Riteish Deshmukh, Rajesh Dempo, Alisha Kundanmal, Parle products, Pooja Bedi, Pradeep Poddar, Tatas, Aparna Varma-Dubai, Bipin Desai-London, Amin Saaleman-Vancouver etc.
