John Moore (b. 1941)
John Moore is an American contemporary realist painter renowned for his evocative cityscapes and depictions of the American post-industrial landscape. His work, which also includes studio interiors and still lifes, emerged in the 1970s amid a resurgence of representational art. Moore’s detailed, painterly compositions blend direct observation, sketches, memories, and photographs, creating re-imagined yet believable scenes. Recognized by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Academy of Design, Moore has exhibited at prestigious institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
