Nawaz has always been a very creative person, & that has emerged in one way or the other since her childhood days. She’s indulged in all sorts of art & craft, designing, etc….Even in the fitness industry (of which she’s been a very integral part for 18 odd years), bringing newness, freshness & creativity to every aspect of her work is what spurred her on all the time. The subject of her first solo show, “Body Art”, aptly named after her Fitness Centres, deal mainly with human anatomy. Within that genre one sees stories unfold, the plight of women, beauty, perfection, the play of light & shadow, day & night, sport & speed. And more…. Her style is rather varied, ranging from semi-realistic, semi-realistic abstract to realistic. She works mainly with charcoals, oil & acrylics. Largely self-taught, like many of today’s greats, she says all her years in the fitness industry certainly helped put together her body of work based on anatomy. She also takes advice from her tutor, learns via experimentation, her own experiences & life. The artist lives and works in Mumbai.
