S. Harsha Vardhana was born in 1958. He is not a painter by training – rather he is a self taught artist. By training he is a bio-scientist and an established one at that. He has held several senior management positions in the bio-medical industry. Finally, in 1993 he quit the industry to work as a freelance painter. His work has been displayed at exhibitions like the Bharat Bhavan Biennial of Contemporary Indian Art, Bhopal, 1996; Gallery Lakeeren, Mumbai, 1996 and ‘The Pastel’, Gallery Art Motif, New Delhi, 1996. Harsha’s pastel’s are actually a view of the world veiled by the gaze of the artist. This world is not an artificially created one. Rather, it is a world where the artist spreads his gaze and hopes that nature will put something into it on its own. The artist lives and works in Delhi.
