Sanjay Kumar, born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, is a contemporary artist whose works explore the contrasts of human nature. His surrealistic paintings juxtapose human figures with inanimate objects, symbolizing life’s movement and the dualities of human experience. Kumar’s compositions feature twisting, vigorous figures that express restlessness through their gestures, while their faces remain obscured. He employs luminous colors, creating dramatic contrasts accentuated by rustic wooden frames. A master’s degree holder in drawing and painting, Kumar has presented research on “The Philosophy of Colours in Modern Painting.” His work has been showcased in solo exhibitions, including the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 1993, and numerous group shows across India.
The artist lives and works in Mumbai, India.
