Umakant Kanade (b. 1965)
Umakant Kanade is a self-taught artist from Maharashtra, India, who completed a G.D. in art from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune in 1990. His works depict the basic elements of nature, inspiring people to appreciate the magic in little things. Umakant works primarily with ink on canvas, using minute strokes to bring out the texture of rocks, birds, and water in his compositions. He excels in converting tones and colors into black and white, while adding vibrant colors to certain elements to enhance their allure. Umakant has participated in several group exhibitions and held solo exhibitions in India and abroad, including at the Art 2 Day Gallery and J Studio Art Gallery in Pune, Shree Rang Art Gallery and Delhi Art Gallery in New Delhi, Samsara Art Gallery in Mumbai, Crimson Art Gallery in Bangalore, and Creative Art Gallery in Dubai.
